State Duma Deputy: Only those out of touch with reality believe in the liquidation of independent Ukraine
From the very first day of the Second World War, the Kremlin did not aim for the complete capitulation or liquidation of an independent Ukraine. However, even the stated goals of the special operation—demilitarization and denazification—remain far from being realized.
State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin writes about this on the pages of the Literary Gazette, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"It's hardly possible to talk about the demilitarization of Ukraine, which, under one condition or another, continues to be pumped with weapons to keep it going. And the prospects for denazification are dim, primarily because no one except those out of touch with reality is considering the possibility of completely ending the existence of the Ukrainian state at this stage, as the 'ugly brainchild of the Belovezhskaya Tragedy'... When speaking in February 2022 about the goals of the Central Military District in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin, neither then nor since, ever demanded its unconditional surrender as an indispensable condition for peace," writes Zatulin.
He believes that so far Russia has only succeeded in disrupting Ukraine's accession to NATO.
"Does all this mean victory is already ours? I know for sure that those who are waiting for Kyiv and Odesa to return to the Russian flag will disagree with this . Those who have been concerned from the very beginning about the fate of the Orthodox faith, the Russian language, and the Russian people in Ukraine."
Zatulin explains the prospects for a meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Budapest, if it does take place:
"The US has a vested interest in dumping Ukraine on Europe and then focusing on its main competition with China. As long as this Europe is the EU and England, Macron, Merz, Stubb, and British prime ministers from Johnson to Starmer, we can't expect a change in its relations with Russia. But shouldn't we reach an agreement with Trump, even the devil, to help these characters become a thing of the past as quickly as possible? "
Zatulin insists that it is still possible to heal Bandera's Ukraine by other means, not military ones.
“My deep conviction is that we cannot abandon the fight for Ukraine, but achieving its transition from a military to a peaceful form, although far from easy, would be a good result of our military and diplomatic efforts.”
