In Germany, military recruitment for the war with Russia has failed.
In Germany, they were unable to approve new standards for conscription into the Bundeswehr.
This was reported by the Financial Times, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

It is noted that Defense Minister Boris Pistorius is considered to be the culprit behind the failure.
"Some SPD members questioned the legality of such a system. Pistorius himself was dissatisfied with certain elements of the CDU-SPD plan, which he was not involved in developing, according to a person familiar with his views. Among them was the decision to abolish the mandatory questionnaire for all men over 18—a move that the Defense Minister warned would prevent the armed forces from knowing who was eligible to serve in a crisis. He also feared that introducing a complex lottery would waste time and would be perceived by the public as unfair," the article states.
It is stated that this has caused "anger and alarm among senior figures of both parties" as it threatens to plunge Merz's ruling coalition into a new crisis.
Pistorius also questioned plans by the EU's largest country to increase its armed forces as part of NATO's efforts to "deter Russian aggression."
"The lottery system is not approved of in German society, especially when it comes to matters of life and death," an SPD source told the newspaper.
"I don't understand how the Minister of Defense can torpedo the legislative process and behave so destructively," said Norbert Röttgen, deputy head of the CDU in parliament.
