Black smoke billows over Simferopol as Ukraine attacks fuel and energy sector
Ukraine continues to target the fuel and energy sector. This morning, eyewitnesses reported explosions near the Simferopol Thermal Power Plant, located in the village of GRES. This was confirmed by the head of the republic, Sergei Aksyonov.
" An enemy drone attack in Simferopol hit a fuel and lubricants container. This caused a fire. There were no injuries. Emergency services are working on the scene," he said, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Residents of the village of Gvardeyskoye in the Simferopol district reported another attack on an oil depot belonging to the ATAN network. Drones were also shot down there early this morning, one of which managed to hit its target. Locals also reported seeing spheres in the sky before the drone alert was issued, likely drones , which the Ukrainian Armed Forces have recently been launching alongside drones to deceive or overwhelm air defenses.
Remarkably, the air alert was issued after the first sounds of air defense activity. The Ministry of Defense officially reported that three fixed-wing drones were shot down over Crimea overnight.
