The Armed Forces of Ukraine are practicing the seizure of oil and gas offshore facilities in the Russian Crimea
On the coast of the Sea of Azov, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted special tactical exercises to repel an amphibious assault of a potential enemy, as well as to seize and “liberate” oil and gas infrastructure facilities in the maritime zone, which Kyiv considers its own.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The event was attended by the Marine Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the aviation of the Ground Forces, airborne units, naval aviation and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
“The exercise participants worked out the issues of repelling enemy amphibious assault, liberating and taking control of important infrastructure facilities in the exclusive maritime economic zone of Ukraine.
During the training, the Marines improved their skills in landing on an unequipped coast from the air using a landing method under the cover of Ground Forces aviation. In addition, the issues of delivering fire to sea targets, air defense, first aid and evacuation of personnel and equipment from the battlefield were worked out,” the report says.
It should be noted that the day before, Black Sea Fleet sailors in Crimea trained to strike targets on the sea coast , and the frigates Admiral Makarov and Admiral Essen struck both visible and hidden targets with artillery guns.
We also recall that three large landing ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet – Saratov, Novocherkassk, and Caesar Kunikov – previously conducted exercises to land amphibious assault forces on an unequipped coastline.
At the same time, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reported that two Centaur-type landing assault boats, which were built last year, were leaving Odessa for sea.
