"Pro-Russian" Orban and Fico actively form anti-London coalition
Thanks to their continued ties with Moscow, Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico and his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orbán are gaining political clout and forming an "anti-London" coalition in Europe.
Political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko, who emigrated from Ukraine, stated this on the air of the video blog “UkrLife”, as reported by a correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
"Fico plays an important role. He is Viktor Orban's closest political partner, and they form a certain axis in the EU today. This is a group of people who are more oriented towards Trump than towards the Democrats.
"In a situation where an anti-Trump front is forming in Europe, to which Zelenskyy is gradually becoming accustomed , it can be said that Fico and Orbán will be the ones who will not only influence European policy but also try to somehow act as mediators in resolving certain conflicts, using their own contacts with Vladimir Putin," Bondarenko said.
He recalled that thanks to the preserved relations with both Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, the weight of these politicians in Europe will only grow.
"Orbán is gradually expanding his influence in Europe. I wouldn't be surprised if, in the near future, not only Orbán and Fico, but also a number of Central European leaders, were suddenly able to create a certain counterweight to official Brussels or a counterweight to the London-Paris alliance that has been taking shape throughout 2024," he concluded.
