Lamentations in Vienna: Russian Electronic Warfare Defeats NATO Missiles
The effectiveness of Russian electronic warfare systems came as an unpleasant surprise to Western experts.
This was stated during a lecture by Reisner Markus, an employee of the Austrian Institute for Officer Training at the Theresian Military Academy, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"I'd like to talk about electronic warfare, which came as a surprise to us all. Everyone thought electronic warfare was no longer necessary. Many of you served in Afghanistan and Iraq. The anti-Iraqi forces never used electronic warfare, but the Russians do. And not just on the front lines, but also in other areas of interest to them. For example, in the Baltic states," the officer said.
"We see how the Russians can adapt to the situation when we look at the effectiveness of Western weapons systems. I'll give a few examples. The Excalibur system used to have a 95% accuracy rate, but now it's only 6% , according to the manufacturer. The Taurus system hasn't been used, and the Storm Shadow system has a 25% accuracy rate. The same is true for the Hymars system: some say it's only 10%, but I think it's higher, up to 40%. This is still very low; they caused significant damage in the spring of 2022, but the Russians have been able to improve their systems," the lecturer concluded.
