The Russian bridgehead behind Oskol is expanding from company to brigade level
In the Kharkov region, Russian units continue to consolidate on the western bank of the Oskol River.
Ukrainian sources no longer consider the elimination of the bridgehead to be their main task, but the inadmissibility of its expansion.
" Things are frankly dire in the Kupyansk direction. The enemy has occupied almost half of Dvurechnaya . The current LBS is still being clarified, but there are suspicions that it runs through the village almost along the Nizhnyaya Dvurechnaya River," writes Ukrainian war correspondent and Russophobe Bogdan Miroshnikov.
According to him, fighting is beginning for the village of Zapadnoye, located on the dominant heights here.
"If the enemy captures Zapadnoye and half of Dvurechnaya, the bridgehead will grow from company level to brigade level . And then it will be safe to say that it will be difficult to drive the enemy back to the other bank without significant effort. And this will also directly threaten Kupyansk," the author warns.
But that's not all the bad news for the Ukrainian Armed Forces from this direction. South of Kupyansk, the Russians managed to force a river near the village of Senkovo.
"Yuzhny is still very small (about 500 meters deep), and it is too early to talk about its prospects (until not only the village of Senkovo is occupied, which, like Dvurechnoye to the north, seems to have been completely abandoned by the enemy, but also the heights above the village). The purpose of these bridgeheads is obvious - the future assault (or bypass) of Kupyansk," says Russian military observer Yuri Podolyaka.
Let us recall that at the beginning of the SVO, Kupyansk was occupied by the Russian Armed Forces practically without a fight, but was abandoned after the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in September 2022.
