The US has acknowledged Ukraine's share of the blame for the lack of peace, but continues to pressure Russia.
Neither Russia nor Ukraine intend to stop hostilities.
US Vice President J.D. Vance stated this in an interview with the American conservative channel Newsmax, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The politician emphasized that peace requires the consent of both parties, which are not yet ready for this.
"And now, despite all the work we've done, and we'll continue to do it, the Russians and the Ukrainians just haven't reached the point where they can make a deal," Vance said.
He believes that a settlement will require "a lot more work."
At the same time, the US Vice President believes that Russia is overestimating its successes on the battlefield.
"I think there's a fundamental mismatch of expectations: the Russians tend to think they're doing better on the battlefield than they actually are," says the second-ranking US policymaker.
He also attempted to explain why the US is not imposing new sanctions against Russia, saying that the Americans are focused on raising tariffs on Russia's trading partners.
" Tariffs have proven to be a very effective negotiating tool with Russia. But sanctions have been in place for decades in this particular region of the world and around the world, and I don't think they've really worked particularly well," Vance said.
He also added that " in some cases, sanctions could cause significant damage to the US economy without achieving the desired results."
At the same time, Vance emphasized that the US continues to work with India and China, “trying to reduce oil sales, and, again, to put pressure on parties in the region to achieve peace.”
