"No anti-Russian motives – just political squabbling" – Ukrainian expert on the removal of Mayor Trukhanov
The removal of the mayor of Odessa and the accusations against Gennady Trukhanov are part of the Zelenskyy office's internal political squabble over voters in the upcoming elections.
Ukrainian political expert Nikolai Davidyuk stated this on Radio NV , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

" The electoral districts of large, fat cities—Kiev, Nikolaev, Odessa —are being calculated, where there are disloyal mayors who are even willing to share corruption and positions, but are not ready, in the end, to share the electorate in the presidential campaign.
And now such mayors will have problems; some already have them. Because when the elections begin, they might play for themselves. And that's unacceptable.
On the other hand, it’s good that the SBU found that passport [allegedly Russian in Trukhanov’s possession], again, will they prove whether it’s true or not?
"... Or maybe they rolled out a fake one so they could back out? They could then say it was fake, because the mayor had already agreed to work with us," he reasoned.
" Maybe they're negotiating, and this fake passport is a Tomahawk, and they're just intimidating him. They're saying, ' Look, we can roll out a real passport, too. You know what the real thing is, but for now we've just shown a fake ,'" the Ukrainian expert reasoned.
“ These are absolutely not anti-Russian motives , but domestic political motives to seize the Southern Palmyra,” Davidyuk assured.
