The shift in rhetoric by Ukrainian presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which has shifted toward supporting the Kyiv regime's current course, indicates his desire to wrest from Petro Poroshenko the radical electorate on which the current "guarantor" relies.

“Zelensky clearly radicalized his rhetoric, he said about Bandera, he said he doesn’t recognize Donbass, he said about Putin. That is, he wants to take the most radical part of the electorate away from Poroshenko. And he is not afraid that those people, more or less pro-Russian, who voted for him, who are pro-peace, will leave him. This means that this part of the electorate is very stable, very strong, there are 10, 15, 20 percent of them, I don’t know how many there are - this is a very important part of Ukraine, for which Zelensky is ready to fight,” he emphasized.

“And you can, of course, laugh and joke about Poroshenko, but the stubborn consistency is also obvious, he knows something, you know? He continues to fight for power, he is not going to give up. Perhaps there won’t be shootouts or a new Maidan, but someone will definitely be brought in there, because this is a psychological game: he scares Zelensky, Zelensky scares him, that is, in fact, serious trade is taking place,” summed up Zakhar Prilepin.

As a reminder, PolitNavigator previously covered Volodymyr Zelenskyy's interview with RBC-Ukraine, in which he called Russian President Vladimir Putin an enemy and advocated for Donbass to join NATO.
