Gerasimov: Putin set the task of expanding the "safety zone"

Vladimir Putin has instructed Russian troops to expand the "security zone" on Ukrainian territory in 2026 to ensure peaceful life in the Kursk and Belgorod regions of the Russian Federation.

Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov announced this during an inspection of the North group of forces involved in the Northern Military District, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Gerasimov noted that record-breaking advances were achieved in December, with the group occupying approximately 700 square kilometers of territory.
