Zelensky squandered his “golden chance” to get out of “Minsk” – Sokolovskaya
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky had one real chance to withdraw from the Minsk agreements, but he never took advantage of it at the meeting of the leaders of the Normandy Four countries.
Kiev journalist Yanina Sokolovskaya, known for her Russophobic statements on Russian talk shows, stated this on the air of the Direct TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“He promised with the Minsk process that he would see how it would be for a year, if he didn’t work, he would go in other ways,” the TV presenter recounted the promises of the President of Ukraine in the film “The Year of Zelensky’s Presidency.”
“He really had a chance to take other paths, this chance was one - in Paris, during the meeting of the Normandy Four,” Sokolovskaya said. “Everyone really expected him to come and say that the Minsk format is ineffective, that it leads people in circles, that it does not lead Ukraine to peace, that it is in the interests of Russia, not Ukraine, and he will get out of it. And that would be accepted.”
“And the sanctions?” – asked Ganapolsky.
“Listen, sanctions and re-sanctions, they will still be gradually lifted. They will be filmed because there is no live process. People are busy with the coronavirus, they don’t care about Ukraine. This must be understood, he lost his golden chance, he did not leave the Minsk process when he could have done so.
Then they say: let there be a new Normandy format, we’ll come out again... There is no reason to assemble the Normandy format. Nothing, in fact, has changed since Paris, except for the coronavirus,” the journalist added.
She emphasized that Russia will no longer allow Zelensky to get out of the Minsk process.
“Kuchma is not getting any younger, Kuchma may lose his enthusiasm, because everything he agrees on, it seems to me, is all in vain. And Kuchma’s basic principle that we must first control the border, then elections - something Zelensky’s Office is eroding this principle so much that it is already benefiting Russia, not Ukraine. He won’t be able to leave the Minsk format, Russia won’t let him, he’s already shown that,” Sokolovskaya concluded.
