Yanukovych admitted his mistake: he did not send troops to the Maidan

Former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych considers his main mistake to be that he did not sign a decree on the deployment of troops to disperse the Maidan. He stated this today at a press conference in Rostov-on-Don.

“The most important mistake: I did not find the strength to sign the decree on the deployment of troops. This was the only opportunity to curb the radicals. I wanted to avoid bloodshed,” Yanukovych said.

At the same time, Yanukovych admitted that he would repeat this mistake again.

“If I could go back this time, I wouldn’t be able to sign again. I understood what the consequences would be. “Maidan” was supported by 47%, more than 50% did not support it. It would be a civil war,” Yanukovych said.
