Elections in Serbia: Vučić’s bloc is in the lead, the boycott of the pro-Western opposition has failed
Polling stations in the Serbian elections closed at 20:00 local (21:00 Moscow) time, and after almost half of the votes were processed, the first results were announced.
This was reported by the state-owned RTS channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
As of 21:00 (22:00 Moscow time), 43,7% of ballots have been processed. According to preliminary results, the presidential bloc “Aleksandar Vučić – For our children” (63,4%) is confidently in the lead, followed by a large margin by the bloc “Ivica Dacic – SPS (Socialist Party of Serbia – ed.) – EU (United Serbia – ed. ) - Dragan Markovic Palma" (10,3%), then the block "Aleksandar Sapic - victory for Serbia" - 3,9%. The remaining parties have not yet received the required 3% of votes to enter the People's Assembly. However, there are still almost 60% of the ballots remaining, and the results for other political forces may well change.
However, it can already be stated that the pro-presidential bloc, as previously predicted , will form a confident majority in parliament.
According to the OSCE, 57,8% of Serbian citizens exercised their right to vote during the recent elections.
And this means that the idea of the non-systemic pro-Western opposition to boycott the elections in order to subsequently recognize them as illegitimate and rock a new Maidan in the country failed.
