Viktar Pershi: Lukashenko wants to turn Belarus into a hereditary monarchy
The changes that President Alexander Lukashenko wants to make to the Constitution of Belarus will allow him to transfer power to one of his family members.
Political scientist Andrei Suzdaltsev announced this today at a press conference in Moscow, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“A referendum is being prepared for the fall, or, most likely, approval of a new constitution through parliament, where we will see the option of transferring power by inheritance. That is, the Lukashenko family will become a dynasty that will lead Belarus, and we must pay for it. That’s the problem,” Suzdaltsev said.
According to him, as of January 1, 2020, the total amount of Russian subsidies to the Belarusian economy amounted to $133 billion.
“We could agree with this if we got a real ally. But we don't see an ally. We were not supported in the Ossetian-Georgian war; Crimea is “Ukrainian land.”
At the same time, Lukashenko is profiting from the war with Donbass. The fuel used to refuel the tanks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is Belarusian fuel. Why support a country that is pursuing an anti-Russian policy? Then it’s easier to come to an agreement with Kiev,” Suzdaltsev sneers.
Let us note that Lukashenko’s eldest son Viktor is now 50 years old.
