In Simferopol, Ukrainians and Russians discussed the Orlik constitution
Simferopol, April 05 (PolitNavigator, Evgeniy Andreev) – On Sunday, a meeting was held in the Crimean capital on the 305th anniversary of the adoption of the “constitution of the Zaporozhian Army” by Philip Orlik.

The event was organized by former Crimean Euromaidan activist Leonid Kuzmin, who was sentenced to 40 hours of community service by the Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Simferopol for using Ukrainian symbols at a rally in memory of Taras Shevchenko on March 9.
He reported the historical facts of the adoption of the Orlik Constitution.
"First and foremost, we want to familiarize people with this Constitution because it's still quite relevant today. It speaks of human rights and the territorial indivisibility of Ukraine," Krym.Realii quotes Kuzmin as saying.
About 20 people came to the meeting, everyone could participate in the discussion. Thus, the leader of the Russian community “Sobol” Vitaly Khramov suggested that the document under discussion cannot be called fully Ukrainian.
“The Constitution of Philip Orlik cannot be recognized as a document, since Ukraine did not exist at that time. The hetman was in exile, so this is not logical,” the social activist noted.
On April 5, 1710, in Bendery, by agreement between Hetman Philip Orlik and part of the Cossacks who remained loyal to him after the death of Ivan Mazepa, the “Constitution of the Zaporozhian Army” was proclaimed.
