Sevastopol, November 18 (PolitNavigator, Evgeniy Andreev) – On Tuesday, the Nakhimovsky District Court of Sevastopol issued a guilty verdict against a 65-year-old resident of the village of Kacha, found guilty of causing the death by negligence of an infant (Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code).

The investigation and the court established that on the evening of July 9, the defendant brought a Mangabey monkey, which was kept in a cage at his private zoo, into the courtyard of his household. Using a leash with a metal chain, the man tied the animal to a tree. After which he left the yard, leaving the animal unattended. As a result, the monkey unfastened the chain and entered the territory of a neighboring household, where at that time a one-and-a-half-month-old child was sleeping in a stroller. The animal attacked the boy, causing him fatal injuries.
The court sentenced the defendant to two years of restriction of freedom. Also, according to the court decision, the man will have to pay the injured party moral damages in the amount of 4 million rubles.
