In the Cherkasy region, a community of 700 people left the Moscow Patriarchate - media
Kyiv, November 05 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) - In the Cherkasy region in the village of Knyazha Krynitsa, the community of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, numbering 700 people, left the Moscow Patriarchate and moved to the “Kiev Patriarchate”, unrecognized by world Orthodoxy.
The reason for the transition was given as “patriotism, great love for the Motherland, one’s people and Ukrainian soldiers, who at the cost of their lives defend Ukraine from the Russian occupiers,” writes the newspaper “Young Ukraine”.
The publication clarifies that along with the parishioners, the rector of the church, Archpriest Vladimir Yavorsky, also transferred to the UOC-KP.

As PolitNavigator reported, back in March, the famous Orthodox missionary Protodeacon Andrei Kuraev predicted that the conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine would seriously weaken the position of the Moscow Patriarchate in the former Soviet republic.
“Real independence from a foreign center of control, as usually happens in history, turns into a rather open dependence of the local church elites on the local political and financial authorities. There is no such thing as complete freedom in politics. There is only ignoring someone’s opinions and interests - in exchange for sensitivity to the wishes of other centers of influence,” recalls Kuraev.
