Ukrainian soldiers need to be trained in basic medical self-help and mutual aid skills. In addition, the psychological preparation of a fighter is important, said the rector of Odessa Medical University, academician Valery Zaporozhan.
According to him, several years ago military medicine was virtually destroyed in Ukraine. Military medical departments in educational institutions were liquidated. And the existing military-medical doctrine of Ukraine is completely inconsistent with the current challenges.
“In recent years, our country has been instilled with the idea that there will never be a war. Therefore, when the fighting began, there was complete confusion,” the publication quotes the rector "Lighthouse".
In his opinion, one of the key tasks today is the creation of coordination centers between civilian and military medicine, as well as volunteers.
