Ukraine is pushing its athletes to Russia
The dismissal of goalkeeper Mikhail Gotra by the Lviv club “Karpaty” for supporting the Russian national football team in a match with the Spaniards is a bad sign for Ukrainian athletes.
This opinion is expressed on his Facebook page by former activist of the Kharkov Anti-Maidan and political prisoner Spartak Golovachev, who has repeatedly become the champion and record holder of Ukraine in freediving.
"Karpaty Lviv goalkeeper Mykhailo Gotru was kicked out of the club for supporting the Russian national team in a match against Spain. This is a good incentive for dozens of Ukrainian athletes currently competing for Russia due to meager funding in their homeland to stay in Russia permanently. And it's a bad sign for the majority of remaining athletes, who, like Olympic founder Pierre de Coubertin, consider sport outside of politics," Golovachev believes.
He also wished the former goalkeeper of the Lviv club sporting success.
