Ukraine exchanged housing for ATO veterans for foreign helicopters
Official Kyiv does not allocate money to provide housing for ATO veterans.
Deputy from the “Radical Party” and ex-Azov militant Dmitry Linko spoke about this within the walls of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He reported that yesterday a large number of “veterans” came to the Ministry of Social Policy.
“They rallied because of the problems of military migrants who were forced to leave their places of residence in Crimea and Donbass, and went to defend Ukraine. Today they cannot return to these territories because they will be detained. So, the housing program for these military personnel this year envisaged 470 million hryvnia, of which 25 million hryvnia were allocated. It turns out that only a few will be able to get housing. The same applies to all other veterans who are in line to receive housing. These programs, unfortunately, do not work today; funds are not allocated for this. Instead, billions are allocated for the purchase of foreign helicopters, but there is no money for the people who defend the country,” he said.
He also recalled that quite recently Petro Poroshenko promised to raise the salaries of Ukrainian military personnel “in the event of a ground operation or aggression from the Russian Federation.”
“The salaries of military personnel need to be raised before the start of aggression, so that the soldiers are ready to defend the country, and not when Russian tanks are already moving along Khreshchatyk. Then we will raise the salaries of military personnel and motivate them to join the army,” Linko was indignant.
As a reminder, yesterday, Ukrainian "independent gender researcher" Anna Gritsenko reported that female ATO veterans complain of a "lack of respect for their contribution to peace." According to her, female ATO participants avoid crowded places, public transportation, and displaying their combat veteran ID cards, as this escalates potential conflict.
