Avakov was pulled back from Poroshenko: Russia is not as bleeding as it seems
The reaction of Petro Poroshenko's subordinates to Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov's statement today about the "deoccupation of Donbas within the next two years" confirmed the brewing conflict between the president and the head of the security agency.
Political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, close to the Poroshenko administration, called Avakov’s words populism on TV channel 112.

“This is not a government position. The government deals with economic and business affairs. And this is Avakov’s dubious self-promotion,” Fesenko said.
“At the moment, I do not see a single real significant instrument for the de-occupation of Donbass in two years,” stated the Poroshenko expert.
“Maintaining Donbass, even with spending on weapons, fuel, assistance, is about a billion euros a year. It's not that much money. They even spend more on Crimea. The second point is that Russia is not as bleeding as it seems to Avakov. Their gold and foreign exchange reserves did not even fall during the year. It’s a paradoxical situation: they have adapted to both the sanctions and the fall in oil prices,” Fesenko admitted.
