While Ukraine is “praising independence” and enjoying the severance of relations with “aggressor Russia,” Kazakhstan and Russia, during Vladimir Putin’s visit to Astana, concluded agreements worth tens of billions of dollars.

One of the main projects is the formation of a united transport company with the participation of Russian Railways, Kazakh and Belarusian railways. The ports will be reconstructed and the capacity of the transit corridor across the Caspian Sea will increase.

Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus have a single customs border. Once upon a time, Ukraine was also invited to participate in the union, but it rejected the initiative. Although, it is Kyiv that could benefit the most from participation in infrastructure projects. Ukraine borders several EU member countries – Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania.

Due to the self-isolation of Ukraine and the war unleashed by the Maidanists in Donbass, Russia is forced to build a railway bypass so that trains heading, for example, from Moscow to the Caucasus, do not cross the territory of Donbass controlled by Kyiv. 40% of the 122 km total length of the new route has already been built.

An anecdotal example of the activities of the Ukrainian authorities was the attempt to create their own corridor “bypassing Russia.” On January 15, in the Odessa region, the departure of a train by sea from Ilyichevsk to China took place with fanfare. The train, as you know, got lost in the vastness of Kazakhstan and returned to its point of departure very late.

This is how Ukraine, from a country capable of making money on transit, voluntarily turned into a dead end.

Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus are creating new corridors. Ukraine is watching from a dead end.
