Russia's new weapon, which Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about in his address to the Federal Assembly, will help it effectively counter the US fleet, which is an order of magnitude more powerful than the Russian one.
Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Missile and Artillery Sciences Konstantin Sivkov spoke about this today at a press conference in Moscow, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Under these conditions, new weapons systems are the only way to ensure national security. “Poseidon with a submarine is an asymmetric response weapon that is capable of destroying the North American continent,” Sivkov said.
Another new product, the Zircon missile, is capable of radically changing the balance of forces in the sea and ocean theaters of military operations.
“The aircraft carrier ceases to be an invulnerable element. A cruiser-type ship or submarine can destroy it in one salvo. Two such ships will be able to defeat an aircraft carrier strike force and even resolve the issue with the aviation group,” the expert added.
