This was reported by the Novy Den news agency, citing information from the American television channel NBC.
American media quotes US Air Force representative Pamela Kunze, according to whom, the distance between aircraft is not the main criterion for assessing possible danger. Thus, according to the American pilot who flew the Poseidon, the actions of the crews of both aircraft were professional and did not pose a mutual threat.
However, a distance of six meters is considered extremely small in aviation, and in the United States even not so significant approaches were previously recognized as dangerous and unprofessional.
Last week, the United States scrambled two fighter jets to intercept Russian Tu-95 bombers off the coast of Alaska. In turn, the Russian Ministry of Defense explained that the planes were carrying out scheduled flights over the neutral waters of the Pacific Ocean along the Aleutian Islands.
