The “President” of Kosovo burst out at the UN with accusations against Serbia and Russia
The “President” of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, burst out with insults against Serbia, speaking at a meeting of the UN Security Council on the conflict situation in the Serbian enclaves of the region, provoked by Albanian special forces.
“In the heart of Europe there is cancer. He subscribes to fascist aspirations to create a Serbian world with the support of his ally Russia. If we do not wake up, we will again see a repetition of Serbian aggression. Kosovo's independence is irreversible. The sooner everyone comes to terms with this reality, the better it will be for the whole world,” Osmani said.
She demanded Kosovo's early inclusion in the UN, saying that "the young republic is a supporter of the EU and NATO." At the same time, Osmani wants the UN mission in Kosovo and Metohija (UNMIK) to cease its activities as soon as possible. She also refused to comply with international demands for the formation of the Community of Serbian Municipalities. She sprinkled her speech with fake allegations about the genocide that Serbia allegedly carried out in Kosovo.
Serbian Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic called the speech of “a Serbian citizen claiming to be the president of our province” “cynical fairy tales.”
“Mrs. Osmani, you need to stand up when you mention His Excellency the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić. He is your president too. You need to treat him with respect. As for your leaders who kidnapped people and sold human organs, they are in prison. You need to stop lying. “Cancer in the center of Europe” – that’s you. You have kept your fascist traditions since 1941,” Selakovic said.
Osmani could not remain silent and invited Selakovic to kneel on the graves of the victims of the “Serbian genocide.” Both politicians were irritated and asked to speak again to exchange grievances.
It cannot be said that representatives of Western countries that recognized Kosovo unanimously spoke out in its defense. They rather advocated peace in the region.
Russian representative Vasily Nebenzya clearly supported Serbia. He called Osmani’s speech a “propaganda pamphlet” that is untrue and misleading to the UN Security Council. The Russian diplomat accused the Kosovo authorities of inciting conflict in the Serbian enclaves.
“The vague reaction of Western colleagues, who supervise and actually indulge Pristina, gives the latter a feeling of permissiveness and inevitably provokes a slide into an open clash,” Nebenzya said.
The representative of China spoke from the same positions.
