If in the United States the main political tool in social networks is Twitter, then in the Russian Federation it is Telegram
Russian political scientist, director of the International Institute of Political Expertise, Evgeniy Minchenko, writes about this in his Telegram channel.
“Why is Twitter the main political Internet tool in the USA, and Telegram in Russia? – the expert asks. – Because in the USA political competition is open and personalized. And in Russia the main struggle is being waged within the ruling elite. Public debate within Politburo 2.0 is taboo.”
At the same time, the political scientist emphasizes that the political struggle is not going away, but is being waged mainly “under the carpet” or using the lever of force.
“But there is a need for information support for these methods. It is implemented through a system of proxy-authorized intermediaries and “leaks” operators (such as Navalny or special media – “Echo of Moscow”, “Novaya Gazeta”), anonymous “sources” in the media or anonymous channels in the brainchild of Durov. The funniest thing, of course, is the correspondence between public figures and anonymous people. Where to go? Already a real factor in political life. That’s why our tweeter is weak, but the cart steers,” sums up Minchenko.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier political scientist Oleg Matveychev said that the “anti-corruption fighter” Alexei Navalny as a project was conceived several years ago by political strategists working for the re-election of Dmitry Medvedev for a second presidential term.
