In Volyn, miners riot: why Kyiv buys coal from Australia and does not feed its miners
Novovolynsk, December 29 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – Three hundred miners gathered at a rally in Novovolynsk: people demand to pay off wage arrears and allocate funds for the maintenance of the local mine.

"If our demands are met and the money is allocated, who will manage it? Will it be the incompetent mine management stealing property again? This is another issue that urgently needs to be addressed," said Bohdan Makarchuk, an employee at the Buzhanskaya mine, as quoted by the publication BUG.
The mayor of Novovolynsk, Viktor Sapozhnikov, attended the protest. He called on those gathered to resolve the issue at the regional level and contact the Governor of the Volyn region Vladimir Hunchik.
And the people's deputy's assistant, Andrei Bokoch, called on the miners to go to a rally in Kyiv; he also promised to help organize buses for this action.
As PolitNavigator reported, in October, miners blocked the routes near Novovolynsk for several days. The protesters demanded payment of arrears of wages. Another complaint was that the state is not developing mines in the Lviv-Volyn basin.
It should be noted that the day before, miners working in Kiev-controlled mines protested in Donbas.
