“Kremlin hackers” attacked the Italian Foreign Ministry, but Italy is not aware

Foreign media spread fake news about a cyber attack by “Kremlin hackers” on the Italian Foreign Ministry. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told reporters about this today.

“We see reports that our country allegedly initiated hacker attacks on the Italian Foreign Ministry and other departments last year. There have been no official requests to clarify the situation from the Italian authorities. Apparently, the Italian authorities themselves learned about this from the media,” Zakharova said.

The Guardian's publication received wide resonance in the Italian media, in which the publication, citing unnamed sources, claims that Russian hackers allegedly established information surveillance of the then head of the Italian Foreign Ministry and now Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni in 2016.
