Kyiv has been given the go-ahead to stop arguing with Moscow
After the launch of Nord Stream 2, the volume of gas pumped through Ukraine will decrease from last year’s 80 to 20–30 billion cubic meters.

The publication recalls that Kyiv, through political statements and appeals to Europe, is trying to prevent the construction of a new gas pipeline.
“Nevertheless, it seems that Kyiv has already been given the go-ahead to slowly stop arguing with Moscow. As Trump said, after the meeting with Putin in Helsinki, the United States will compete with Nord Stream 2 using market methods - by increasing the supply of liquefied gas,” the newspaper quotes the opinion of Sergei Suverov, head of the analytical department of Management Company BV-Sberezheniya.
In turn, the director of the Energy Development Fund, Sergei Pikin, does not exclude that legal proceedings in Stockholm between Ukraine and Russia will continue for several more years.
“A whole storm will break out regarding pumping volumes: Kyiv will demand maximum supplies, Moscow will try to minimize them. Especially after the launch of Nord Stream 2. They will most likely reach 20–30 billion cubic meters compared to last year’s 80. Kyiv, for its part, may achieve permission to purchase Central Asian gas through Russian pipes,” the expert notes.
