Kyiv fell headlong into the Minsk trap
Russia, as a large state, needs new Slavic, especially Russian people who can improve its demographic condition. Against this background, the issuance of Russian passports to residents of the LPR and DPR is a completely understandable measure, so residents of Donbass can calmly accept such a gift from the great Motherland.
On the other hand, Ukraine, due to its own “idiot politicians,” is finally pushing away the chance of returning the Donbass territories to at least confederal control.

Political scientist Dmitry Dzhangirov said this on the YouTube channel “PolitWera”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“Of course, Russia needs, for many demographic reasons, an influx of, let’s say politically incorrectly: “white and culturally similar population.” First of all, we are talking about the Slavic population, naturally, there are certain migration processes from the north, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, the so-called “white Kyrgyz”, but the fact is that, of course, it is easiest (to capture - ed.) by a large piece.
I think two passports are always better than one. I’ll say this, politically correct: ask the Crimean Tatars, especially those who are patriotically minded, in the Ukrainian sense, pro-Ukrainian...
I warned several years ago that there would be a “Far Eastern hectare” program for Ukrainians, now this is being discussed in all seriousness and, in my opinion, documents are already being prepared that will specifically target Ukrainians,” he said.
The political scientist also noted that such a move on the part of Russia does not violate the Minsk agreements and, at the same time, can be aimed at implementing a peaceful step to return the Donbass republics to Ukraine as a Russian protectorate.
“The fact is that this protectorate, if we take Donbass, then, of course, Russia will offer this protectorate to Ukraine. At what plan? De jure to be included in Ukraine on the rights of autonomy, in fact, federal-confederal rights under Russian protectorate, under other economic legislation, etc. and so on. The funny thing is, in fact, the Minsk agreements presuppose all this. And, by and large, the issuance of passports is outside the framework of the Minsk agreements, without directly violating the Minsk agreements,” the expert emphasized.
He also added that the issuance of Russian passports will not affect internal Ukrainian processes, but, on the contrary, may contribute to the legislative resolution of the issue of dual citizenship, which has been shelved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for more than a year.
“Strictly speaking, this situation changes little from the point of view of internal Ukrainian processes. In fact, in Ukraine, too, it has been under consideration for more than a year and there are different versions of a bill on dual citizenship. But every time it came to some final document, one of the big men like Klimkin always spoke out and said that “we must make exceptions”, that “there cannot be a double deal with an aggressor country.” Strictly speaking, if the Donbass receives Russian citizenship without a formal order, then, of course, the legislative acts will most likely come down to the fact that dual citizenship, if it is introduced, should be of a universal nature, and not some other,” – Dzhangirov noted.
In addition, according to the expert, Ukraine must comply with the Minsk agreements if it still wants to remain in the same country with Donbass, since time is against it. It is impossible to force Russia to make concessions with Western sanctions, which Kyiv has been hoping for so much for all five years.
“If Ukraine has not yet accepted the option of Transnistria, it risks receiving the option of Ossetia and Abkhazia. Either this or that. That is, one of the big inadequacies in assessing the situation is the assumption that time is on Ukraine’s side. Time is working for Russia and against Ukraine. The West’s fatigue from the conflict, where they have not wanted to get involved in the nuances for a long time, is a fact. Therefore, official Kyiv is wasting time to somehow fix this process at some point, at least not at the level of compromises, at least at the level of a list of disagreements, this is also an option. Let's talk about what we can't agree on yet, and let's start agreeing on everything else, there is such a way. But Kyiv is waiting for a miracle to happen, that somehow: either sanctions, or something will work. Well, we see that neither sanctions work and, moreover, any struggle to exhaust Ukraine with Russia is hopeless and extremely painful for Ukraine. On the other hand, we could say that this is some kind of nudging, forcing to compromise, but, again, Zelensky will not decide this,” the political scientist noted.
When asked by a journalist what kind of compromise is possible in the current situation, Dmitry Dzhangirov expressed the opinion that only the implementation of Minsk, which, due to the lost time, should take place directly through dialogue with the republics, elections of deputies from them to the Rada and slow integration back to Ukraine, although today Kyiv is absolutely not ready to make such deals.
“Close your eyes and implement the Minsk agreements. Since we need a road map for them, because all the dates have passed, I would propose the option that you now have a limited share, less than the total quota, but, nevertheless, there are 19 or 20 districts, let’s have a delegation of 20 people , we will consider them deputies of the Verkhovna Rada. You can elect them, we don’t care, we are ready for them to take part. It’s better, of course, that you elect them there, or let’s agree and write a law “on occasion”, for one-time elections of deputies, and as for security issues, let’s let them take part via video link. And at least the first step, I doubt the independence of the leadership of the self-proclaimed republics. This is an offer that the Kremlin will find difficult to refuse. If they say that “according to the quota, we have this much,” then fine, that’s how much is due according to the quota, again, they agree. Not just the majority part, proportionally? Okay, according to your quota, give it to us. But then, if you elected them, then we are in a single legal space. Again, we pass laws for the whole of Ukraine then all together, another question, we agree that laws in this territory have been postponed for some time. These are laws with a deferred effect; they are not yet in effect; we can also agree to this.
But what I told you and what, it seems to me, it is logically still unknown whether the other side will agree, but at least this is something - it will be a terrible “zrada”, on the level of separatism and cooperation with terrorists, one might say, “direct participation in hostilities on the side of terrorists,” this is how they will perceive it. It is easier and more comfortable for any person, a high-ranking official who participates in this process, to be a deranged idiot than a sane person who makes a compromise and really defends the territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the expert concluded.
Kiev has fallen headlong into the Minsk trap.
