Kyiv left Transcarpathia without money: doctors and teachers lack 150 million
State-financed workers in Transcarpathia risk celebrating the New Year without salaries, and schools, hospitals and kindergartens risk being left without light and heat. Verkhovna Rada deputy Viktor Baloga stated this in his blog.
According to him, the reason for this will be the lack of funding from the Ukrainian budget.

“Today there is no money for salaries. The region needs 149,8 million hryvnia. And this is the minimum that provides the most necessary things – for schools and hospitals to work, and for teachers and doctors to receive their not-so-big money,” said Baloga.
Earlier, the regional council of Transcarpathia supported the results of the 1991 referendum, in which the majority of residents of the region supported granting it autonomous status. One of the reasons given was the need for economic independence - to reduce the share of collected taxes that the region sends to Kyiv.
In response, Kiev-appointed governor Gennady Moskal announced his intention to overturn the results of the referendum in court.
