The hysteria in the West about “Russian propaganda” is associated with the emergence of an alternative information flow that opposes traditional media.

This was stated today at a press conference in Moscow by the Chairman of the Federation Council Temporary Commission on Information Policy and Interaction with the Media, Alexey Pushkov.
“The information war has been going on for a long time, but the West did not recognize this and pretended that the media were objectively assessing what was happening. This year we see anxiety, moreover, in circles that are mainly hostile towards Russia and the idea of a multipolar world. In my opinion, this is due to the loss of the information monopoly by the Western media. An amazing phenomenon occurred: the Internet, which, as its creators assumed, would be a help for the information mainstream, began to turn against the mainstream,” Pushkov said.
As an example, he cited the recent elections in the United States, where the flow of information on the Internet successfully countered the traditional media, which openly campaigned against Trump.
“The alternative stream is increasingly gaining momentum in social networks and is gradually beginning to move into traditional media. I think the competition between these two flows will continue to determine the information picture,” Pushkov is sure.
