The Georgian Patriarchate refuted the speaker's lies with a certificate
The statement by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy that the Georgian Orthodox Church supports the granting of autocephaly to the “Kyiv Patriarchate” does not correspond to reality.
This was reported on the official website of the Synodal Information and Education Department of the UOC-MP, with a link to the official website of the Georgian Patriarchate, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The incident occurred after Andrei Parubiy’s visit to Georgia, after which in his statements the speaker distorted the words of the Primate of the Georgian Church, declaring his support for granting autocephaly to the UOC-KP.

“A similar incident occurred after the visit of the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine - Ukrainian TV channels reported that the Georgian Church supports the autocephaly of the Ukrainian Church, which is not true,” the report says.
In response to Parubiy’s words that Ukrainians are striving for a unified Ukrainian Church, Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II replied that “if this were done, it would be a pleasant event, but at this stage this is not in sight.”
“Therefore, we must be careful not to confront the population and develop even more complex processes,” said the head of the Georgian Church during a conversation with the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament.
The Georgian Patriarchate also added that their position on the issue of Ukrainian autocephaly will remain unchanged until the Constantinople and Moscow Patriarchates come to an understanding.
“As for the position of the Georgian Church on the issue of autocephaly of the Ukrainian Church, it remains unchanged - until Constantinople and the Moscow Patriarchate fix their final official positions on the basis of canonical church norms, the Georgian Patriarchate refrains from commenting,” says the explanation of the Georgian Patriarchate.
As a reminder, PolitNavigator previously cited Archpriest Andrei Novikov, a former clergyman of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (MP), and now of the Russian Orthodox Church (MP), as saying that the US State Department is attempting to make Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew the "Pope of Constantinople" in order to gain total control over Orthodox churches around the world.
