The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine ordered to erase Soviet stars from the handles of police service weapons
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Arsen Avakov, by an internal order, ordered all law enforcement officers to erase the Soviet star from the handle of their service weapon. Former People's Deputy of Ukraine Vladimir Oleynik said this on the air of the talk show “Evening”.

And in Western Ukraine, especially “patriotic” ones do this on Kalashnikov assault rifles, where the five-pointed star is part of the marking.
“Avakov ordered... This is a PM pistol, men know what it is. There is an asterisk on the handle. So, today all the workers take, clean this sprocket, polish it. Well, some especially zealous ones in Lvov began to shoot down with an AKS machine gun, at a stamping machine. But experts told them not to do this, because they were interfering with the design, and this is a crime,” Oleynik said.
“Moreover, they want to hire a company to carry out this work, fictitiously, and get more money,” the ex-deputy also claims.
