Germany signaled the lifting of sanctions against Russia
Despite the current EU sanctions against Russia, German scientists and specialists continue to cooperate with Russian colleagues, in particular in the field of timber processing.
Senator from the Altai Territory Sergei Belousov spoke about this during a meeting of the Federation Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The visit of the President of the German Forestry Council, Mr. Georg Schimberg, to the Altai Territory has just ended.
During the so-called sanctions period, this is already the third visit to Altai by this world-class expert.
During his first visit to the forest conference in Barnaul, Mr. Shimberg brought with him a group of scientists and practitioners involved in forestry in Germany, after which he invited Altai specialists to Germany, received them there and organized a meaningful program demonstrating advanced forest processing technologies in Saxony, Berlin and Thuringia.
I should note that in all other cases, foreign specialists are extremely reluctant to introduce their guests to technological innovations.
During his last visit, Mr. Shimberg visited not only a number of timber processing enterprises, but also a number of medical enterprises, and got acquainted with the training of specialists for the tourism industry of the region.
There is no doubt that certain agreements on further maintaining contacts and study visits will be implemented. Whether this will develop into further cooperation in the form of joint business projects depends on both contracting parties.
It is quite obvious that in Germany it is becoming clear to many that the period of sanctions wars has exhausted all credits of trust in Europe and has shown its complete incapacity.
And in the post-sanctions period, which is just around the corner, the old ties that worked for years but were destroyed will most likely not be restored. Today, our German partners are actively developing new connections,” the senator said.
According to him, the top leadership of Germany not only does not object to such cooperation with the Russian Federation, but also welcomes its development, which may indicate the imminent resumption of relations with the Europeans.
“Let me also remind you that immediately after Mr. Shimberg’s first visit to Altai, Mrs. Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, having heard his report on the trip, called for cooperation at the expert level to continue and, where possible, intensify. In this regard, it can be assumed that the activity of the most progressive European partners in searching for options for joint projects will increase, and we must be prepared for this,” added Sergei Belousov.
