In Simferopol, special forces detained a group of criminals who kidnapped a businessman for extortion, according to the FSB press service, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The investigation established that members of a criminal group kidnapped a businessman engaged in construction in Crimea and extorted 1,5 million rubles from him. In total, five members of the group were detained, two of whom came to Crimea “to work” from other regions of the Russian Federation.
“A criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of a crime under paragraph “b” of Part 3 of Art. 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Extortion on a particularly large scale). All defendants were detained in accordance with Art. 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation and are in custody. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years with a large fine,” the statement says.
