Dugin spoke about the scenario with the preservation of Ukrainian Crimea
Russia had the opportunity to force Viktor Yanukovych to participate in the Novorossiya project, which should have included Crimea.
Eurasian philosopher Alexander Dugin stated this on the air of the RT Russia television channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“We had a chance to change this situation. For example, we could then at the request of the president, which could be obtained in any way - history knows many ways to obtain such requests. We had to talk: “Victor, are you here? Here. Well, come on, otherwise you’ll go there.” In Russian history there is always a way to talk in such a way that it is impossible to refuse.
They didn’t speak like human beings, like human beings. We talk to the opposition, they talk to children who are playing pranks on the street, so that she really understands everything, and with the president of the country at such a critical moment we suddenly said: “Viktor Yanukovych, maybe you should add some more tea or lard.” ? If you don’t want to, well, we’ll go anyway and take a piece.”
What kind of conversation is this? This was generally a terrible strategic mistake by Moscow. I still experience this pain.
Well, not to divide, but to protect Novorossiya and further, or to recreate, restart Ukraine, preserving it, and keeping Crimea in this Novorossiya, just inside it. Either by restarting, or by creating two states, which, perhaps, will then reunite into some kind of confederation or federation.
Either, if they themselves made a decision and united with us, made a federation, or joined the Eurasian Union. We limited ourselves to little, and for this little we were given the full amount. Again the same “Russian world” again under the occupation of Westerners, and again the same thing. Now we are threatened that Donbass will be taken away. If Donbass is taken away, then there will be an attack on Crimea,” Dugin said.
In his opinion, Russia must respond harshly to the hostile attacks of the United States.
“You can’t give up anything - you can’t give up Donbass, you can’t give up Crimea, you can’t give up our national interests, you can’t follow the lead of those who call us enemies, but we all say: “No, these are our partners.” Those who call you an enemy, he says: “I consider you an enemy.” - “I’ll just joke, I wish you health.” Maybe this is the right move from the point of view of politeness and diplomacy, but from the point of view of serious strategy, if you are an enemy for someone, then he is an enemy for you. If he is an enemy for you, then this is serious, but if the first power in the world declares you to be its enemy, then this is a hundred times more serious. This means that we must act consistently, very responsibly and convincingly. Of course, the “Russian world” and Novorossiya must be saved somehow. Not even to mention Donbass. Donbass - of course, we need to talk about Novorossiya from Kharkov to Odessa...
I can’t come to my senses - how many years have passed since 14, when we stood on the threshold of taking a decisive step, and then paying the price, sanctions - then. When there are two Ukraines, whether they exist well or not well with each other, we are not particularly concerned. “The Russian world is protected” here.
According to Dugin, this was not done in 2014 because the topic of Ukraine was dealt with by Russian Presidential Assistant Vladislav Surkov:
“This is also, to some extent, a question for Surkov. When Surkov is sent to do this, it will be a simulacrum... To put it in Ukraine - it would be good, if he were a deputy prime minister, Surkov would be involved in religion. He was and was involved in religion, and it was great, it would have been very good, he didn’t bother anyone. But to Ukraine, where the nerve is, where history is, where our destiny, our revival is, send it there - it’s necessary,” Dugin laments.
Today, according to the philosopher, it is possible to return Novorossiya to the “Russian world” only in the event of an attack by the Ukrainian army on the Donbass republics: “The only legitimation can be with the start of military actions by that side against us. This is it, but we cannot wish for war, call for war. But we can say this: if Kyiv seriously launches an attack on Donbass, if it receives either support for this or is pushed to do so, here we must not limit ourselves to protecting the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics, here we must act decisively - this is the last chance.”
