It is more profitable for Donbass to cooperate economically with Russia
Russia will be able to avoid sanctions for economic cooperation with Donbass if it presents it as a humanitarian mission. Deputy Director of the Institute of National Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences Dmitry Kuvalin stated this on the Red Line TV channel.

“Several million of the population of Donbass should live in warmth, should eat normally and be treated. We can always say that we do not concern ourselves with political issues, but rather solve humanitarian problems. This is a good argument to improve everyday economic activity,” Kuvalin said.
At the same time, he noted that the main market for Donbass coal will still remain in Ukraine.
“It is clear that Ukrainian power plants are primarily dependent on Donbass coal. But mining engineering traditionally goes to Russia, because we have a more powerful coal industry. At the same time, 80% of the tasks should be solved by the Russian side. If Ukraine offers acceptable conditions, Donetsk enterprises may agree. But still, the Russian market is more attractive,” Kuvalin said.
