"How do you assess the Russian nuclear threat?" the event's host asked.

“It is important to distinguish between the rhetoric of the political leadership, including Putin, what we have seen and heard over the past two years, from what actually happened.

To date, we have not seen anything happening in Russia regarding the possible use of nuclear weapons that would force us to change our nuclear policy. This is important,” Bauer said.

“Today the rhetoric of using nuclear weapons differs from the realities. This is good and it inspires us. We are monitoring what is happening there very closely,” the general added.
