Why the trial of Ruban is dangerous for the Poroshenko regime
The former organizer of prisoner exchanges, General Vladimir Ruban, who was arrested the day before on charges of arms smuggling from the DPR, is unlikely to be convicted - on the contrary, the trial will only help promote him as a political figure.
Political science candidate Kirill Molchanov announced this at a press conference in Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Everything that Ruban is accused of will fall apart, like other high-profile cases. Everything that the Prosecutor General's Office undertakes falls apart in court.
In a few months it will be released and, having such a background and promotion, perhaps the people who stand behind it will make a new political project out of it. It is extremely unlikely that he will be convicted. Moreover, when open hearings begin, we will learn a lot of interesting things.
This will be something like that endless series that we have been watching for a year now - the Yanukovych trial. There, the prosecution and witnesses said a lot of things that completely whiten it,” the expert said.
