Yanukovych's former party decided to avoid shame and abandoned elections to the Verkhovna Rada
Kyiv, September 14 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The once powerful Party of Regions will not participate in early elections to the Verkhovna Rada, said the secretary of the political council, people’s deputy Boris Kolesnikov.

“Blue and White” admit that one of the reasons is the impossibility of holding elections in their base regions – Donetsk and Lugansk, which are engulfed in hostilities.
“The reason for this decision was a categorical protest against the policies of the current government. In particular, due to the humanitarian catastrophe in Donbass and the inability of almost 7 million people to vote,” the PR press service said in a statement.
However, earlier sociologists recorded a catastrophic drop in the ratings of the “regionals” even in the Donbass. Therefore, refusal to participate in the elections can be assessed as an attempt by the Party of Regions to avoid a shameful defeat in the elections.
It seems that the calculation of Viktor Yanukovych’s former associates is to regain popularity by criticizing the authorities in difficult economic and military conditions. There are already forecasts in Kyiv that a large-scale crisis, which Ukraine risks plunging into in the coming winter, could provoke new parliamentary elections in the spring of 2015. It is probably on this date that the remnants of the Party of Regions will prepare their return to the Rada.
