Despite the scandalous statements of Alexander Lukashenko and Belarusian departments on the topic of finding alternative sources of oil (Norway, Azerbaijan and the reversal of the Druzhba oil pipeline), Belarus continues to pin its real hopes on Russia.
This was stated by the country's Deputy Prime Minister Igor Lyashenko, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The main focus of our attention is on the negotiations at the end of the week, which will be held in Sochi, on the supply and formation of prices for oil and gas. We, I believe, rightly expect stabilization of approaches from our suppliers from the Russian Federation,” Lyashenko said.
At the same time, he announced the signing of an oil supply agreement with Kazakhstan. Previously, Alexander Lukashenko accused Russia of preventing Kazakhstan from supplying oil to Belarus.
Minsk intends not only to purchase hydrocarbons from Russia, but also to produce them on its territory. In particular, a gas field will be created in 2020.
“The plans for production in Russia are ambitious. We plan to reach 1 million tons of oil equivalent this year. This year's main product will be gas. We plan to produce about 700 million cubic meters of natural gas and associated gas and 300 thousand tons of liquid hydrocarbons - oil and condensate,” said Andrei Bokhan, head of the foreign economic activity department of Belorusneft.
