This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov.
“Anti-corruption tax operation: Antipova, from whom $3,8 million was seized during his arrest - the ex-governor and ex-head of the tax Lugansk region, ... The Pechersk court, within the framework of Article 209 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (laundering of funds obtained by criminal means) - appointed a preventive measure - ARREST with a possible bail of 100 million UAH,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs wrote on his Facebook page.
He added: “The handcuffs were put on right in the courtroom.”
As reported, on May 24, the police carried out a PR operation in 15 regions of Ukraine against former heads of regional departments of the Ministry of Revenue and Duties. 23 representatives of tax administrations in the regions were detained and sent by helicopter to Kyiv. At the same time, the case began to fall apart in the courts, which released the detainees on bail, which infuriated Yuriy Lutsenko and Arsen Avakov. Lutsenko even threatened to set fire to the Pechersk court in Kyiv.
Among others, the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv released Alexander Antipov from custody, obliging him to pay a bail of 5 million UAH within 15 days. However, he did not pay bail on time, and the prosecutor’s office filed a petition with the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv to change the preventive measure for him to a more strict (arrest).
In addition, on May 30, an investigator from the military prosecutor's office announced a new suspicion to Antipov under Part 3 of Art. 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (legalization of proceeds from crime).
Antipov himself denies the accusations against him and calls them politically motivated.
