“Why did they die on the Maidan?” – outraged Kiev residents rally on Khreshchatyk (VIDEO)

Kyiv, November 10 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – A rally was held near the Kiev City Council building, at which Bortnichi residents demanded to finally install a traffic light on a dangerous section of the street.
The absence of a traffic light at a dangerous crossing at the intersection of Kommunisticheskaya and Lenina streets in the Kiev microdistrict Bortnichi has already led to several deaths of local residents.

Kyiv City Council deputy Igor Balenko promised to install a traffic light at this crossing if elected, but did not fulfill his promise.
A resident of the microdistrict, 91-year-old Great Patriotic War veteran Dmitry Voevodin, repeatedly reminded the deputy of his promise in written appeals. Having achieved nothing but formal replies, residents held a rally near Kimevrada to get the deputy to fulfill his promise.
“On October 16, a local resident was hit at a crossing. Although there have been similar cases before, this was the last straw,” Anatoly Voevodin, the son of veteran Dmitry Voevodin, told a Navigator correspondent. “No matter how much we contacted the administration, there was no response to the deputies. Everyone promises, but this is just talk.
Why was everything that happened on the Maidan? Each of us somehow takes part in what is happening in the country. I personally donated blood for free three times, including when there were clashes on the Maidan and later for the wounded in the ATO. We helped those on the Maidan with money, we helped the Aidar battalion. We do something, but we don’t see that anything has changed in relation to us. Nothing changes,” says Anatoly Voevodin.
