A Ternopil militant who returned from captivity became bolder, demanding “executions of traitors”
Former Ukrainian militant Vasily Gulka from the Ternopil region, who was captured by the DPR and returned home at the end of last year, said that he would shoot all the “separatists from Donetsk” if he had such an opportunity.
In addition, the Ukrainian military chastised the government for not putting behind bars those prisoners who cooperated with the authorities of the republic.
He stated this in an interview with the Novaya Ternopilska Gazeta, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to him, Donetsk security forces offered Ukrainian prisoners to transport their families to the republic and stay to live there. Some agreed, but were later returned to Ukraine.
“The MGB officers offered us to move our families there and promised to find work. Of course I refused. Six of our prisoners wrote applications for cooperation, but they were returned to Ukraine, and our government pardoned them,” the militant worries.
He also ruled out an amnesty for DPR residents, wishing for reprisals.
“How can you treat traitors?! I would like to meet a few of them and “thank you.” I would put some in prison, let them serve time like me. They should not be given an amnesty; at a minimum, they should be put in prison, and some should be shot. They cannot be changed,” Gulka said.
At the same time, Gulka did not act as a hero in captivity and even participated in recording a video message to the Ukrainian authorities.
