The referendum will be held in several stages, reports the portal “0642”. The first one will take place on May 11th. Two questions will be asked: 1) do you want Lugansk to receive autonomy status and 2) do you want Lugansk to retain its previous status.
Having received autonomy status, it will be possible to carry out the next stage, the protesters suggest. It is due to take place on May 18. It will already determine the status of Lugansk as an independent republic or as an autonomy within the Russian Federation.
In addition, from four candidates, a “people's governor” was elected. This was Valery Bolotov, commander of the People's Army of the South-East.
“The people of Luhansk region entrusted me with this high post - the acting people’s governor. I will try to justify the trust of the people,” Bolotov commented on his appointment.
He stated that, first of all, he would assemble a team of professionals that would improve the work of the region.
According to him, the Luhansk region will create its own army, which will include existing units, as well as ordinary residents. Bolotov also envisages the creation of the People's Council of the Lugansk region.
“These will be representatives from all cities in the region. Everything will be democratic, with the people and for the people,” he said.
He emphasized that it is also planned to reassign all law enforcement agencies of the region, in particular, the courts and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to him, this will be carried out only legally.
Let us remind you that earlier acting President of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov said that he is ready to support people proposed by residents of these regions for the position of heads of regional state administrations in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
