This opinion, in particular, was expressed by the director of the Institute of Energy Research, Dmitry Marunich, at a press conference in Kyiv, commenting on the situation in the Ukrainian energy sector. He noted that the price of coal on the domestic Ukrainian market is 1100 hryvnia per ton, which is significantly cheaper than world prices for coal.
“The very basis of the functioning of the state is an erroneous hypothesis about the functioning of such a market model,” the expert believes. – We need to change foreign policy vectors altogether, we need to negotiate with the self-proclaimed republics, because we will never balance the economics of the thermal power plant. Either someone must cover this difference, or tariffs for the end consumer will have to be significantly raised again. Or agree to buy coal from the DPR - LPR at 1100. But no one wants to make this kind of unpopular decision.”
