The fire was localized. There is no threat of release of chemicals into the atmosphere, the press service of the DPR Ministry of Defense said.
According to DAN, the cause was most likely hit by a large-caliber artillery shell. At the same time, the information that ammunition was disposed of at the plant is not confirmed. The DPR leadership notes that there was no release of chemicals into the atmosphere.
In turn, Ukrainian security officials say that the explosion occurred at an ammunition depot. “Today, February 8, at about 22.00 p.m., an explosion occurred at an ammunition depot in Donetsk. The explosion was so powerful that the flash from it was visible several kilometers away, which is evidence of the large accumulation of ammunition by terrorists, and therefore preparation for an attack. It is not yet known under what circumstances the explosion occurred, but it definitely destroyed the plans of the bandits,” the Azov battalion claims.
As PolitNavigator reported, a powerful explosion rocked Donetsk yesterday, which was heard by residents of Gorlovka, Yasinovataya, and Yenakiyeve.
