Donetsk, August 27 (Navigator, Mikael Chagalyan) – Donetsk is a fairly young city and, unlike world capitals and cities that are world cultural centers, it has not yet had time to build up its cultural baggage.

Although, as Donetsk develops, art also develops: the Opera Theater often tours in Europe, and Pisarev’s ballet troupe is famous all over the world.
But, nevertheless, the city lacks cultural memory, the base on which generations are brought up. Such a base is museums that allow us to preserve the heritage of our ancestors and the achievements of our contemporaries.
By and large, there are two museums in Donetsk, which are very large, and whose collections are of interest and artistic value.
One of these is the Donetsk Museum of Local Lore, which was recently subjected to artillery shelling and virtually destroyed. The entire history of the city is displayed here, and from the exhibits displayed here you can trace all the milestones of its formation.
Rare photographs, unique copies of printed publications, archaeological finds more than 2.000 years old, national costumes of the peoples living in the Donbass - all of this was under serious threat, and much of it was simply destroyed.
Therefore, it was decided to evacuate all the exhibits, due to the danger of their complete destruction. At the moment, it is being decided where exactly to transport all this for maximum safety, but we hope that the cultural memory of the residents of Donbass will not be erased by another artillery shelling, which, alas, has become familiar to Donetsk.
